girls camp 'fluff'.

I'm going to girls camp in the morning.  I am so excited!  I may or may not be getting a new calling on Sunday so I'm really looking forward to this week with my sweet young women.  I packed all of my stuff for the girls in large plastic bins in hopes of keeping the critters out of them.  We'll see how that goes.  The bottom bin is filled with extra items that were on the girls lists... just in case they forget something.
One of my counselors that won't be able to make it up to camp put together a 'craft basket' of fun things to do during down time.  There are pretend mustaches, mad libs, nail polish, crazy duct tape (for making wallets), a wooden block craft, a button bracelet kit, and thread for making friendship bracelets.  Nobody should ever be bored!
There is time for personal scripture reading every morning at camp.  I made each of the girls a little scripture bag...
Inside is a hardcover Book of Mormon, a book mark, a list of 'value-able scriptures', scripture marking pencils in all of the value colors, and a letter from their parents.  I can't wait to give these to the girls.  Our hope is that they will mark the different scriptures with the pencils and write their testimony in the Book of Mormon to give to one of their friends when they get home.
We decided to make camp quilts this year before camp.  We had an activity where each girl purchased 2 yards of fabric (it had to be under $5 a yard).  I cut them into strips, and then we had another activity where where we sewed them together.  Each quilt has a strip of each girls fabric.  They are our friendship quilts!  I am so thankful that I have a mom with a quilting machine that was willing to help us finish them up.  They are lap size quilts and will be perfect for around the campfire and at flag ceremony each morning.
I have a devotional all ready that includes smore kits.  (pinterest!)
This will be left on their pillow one day while they are away....
Another devotional about building each other up... with candy lego bricks...
The theme for our camp this year is the MTC (We're camping at the Mohican Trail Center).  Each ward chose a country to represent.  The girls were given a mission call to that country.  It's been really fun.  We chose Thailand.  I made a Thai flag with each girls name on it to hang about her bed in the tents.
As well as flags for around our campsite.  I was going to sew one... but opted to just print one instead.
Some M&M's to be given to them soon after we get there.... Make the Most out of camp!
 Another treat for their pillows....
I am fortunate to have an incredible ward family out here.  I was only going to make it up to camp for one day... but I really wanted to go the whole week.  I sent an e-mail and within minutes I had baby-sitters lined up for the entire week.  That meant a little more prep work on my part... but I am SO grateful for the help!  I put together little baby-sitting kits for Jeremy to take to each house when he drops the kids off.  Complete with snacks, lunch, and Peter stuff.  I am so grateful for my friends.
I made a trip to Costco and stocked up on take and bake pizzas, breakfast foods, and chicken nuggets.  I think Jeremy will survive in the meal department.
I gained my testimony at Girls Camp.  I am so looking forward to strengthening it again this week!

I'm so excited for you. Girls' Camp is the best, especially with awesome leaders like you. Enjoy this week to the fullest, just in case (well, especially in case) you are released on Sunday. And if you are, I'll commiserate with you. :)

You are the most incredible young women's leader! I know I'm not supposed to compare myself to people so I'm trying hard not to right now... The girls are lucky to have you Chelle, I hope you have so much fun :)

I'm glad you get to go all week. It's such an amazing experience no matter where you live. I also gained my testimony at girl's camp when I was 14 and the memories have stuck with me since! You're so prepared, it's incredible! Have a fabulous time!
