summer.

I saw this idea months ago on Pinterest and I knew that I had to do it.  I just hoped that I could remember to actually do it when the day came.  I did, barely.  They did it with butcher paper.  I didn't have any and had no time to run to the store.  So, I improvised.  I printed out the words, "Welcome to Summer!" and sewed them across a ribbon.  (Sounds complicated... it literally took about five minutes... it's one long straight stitch.  And yes, you can sew through paper and it won't hurt your machine.)
Then I tied it to my neighbors porch and our rain gutter and added a few balloons to jazz it up a bit.  I love it!
I hid some water balloons in the bushes for them to find when we got home.
The kids were thrilled!  Even Lincoln who was in the middle of a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.
I filled up the rest of the balloons that I had instead of using real water balloons.  Turns out those are way harder to break!  Still fun though...
Gracie turned her silliness on for the afternoon....
They tried really hard to bust through the sign... but the ribbon was too strong...
In the end they just tore all of the paper off the ribbon...
Graham used his massive muscles to tear through the paper!
We are so excited it's summertime!  Talk to me in about a week to see if I'm still excited it's summertime...

Completely random -- I love the font you used for the sign!

Cute! Love the sign and the idea. You are good at improvising :) And I bet yours ended up looking better anyway.

We're three weeks into summer break and I'm still sane (mostly). Your ideas are so clever! I wish I had even a portion of the massive creativity you have in your pinky!
