I can't even look at these pictures without crying. We have been blessed with the best friends ever since moving here for dental school nearly 9 years ago. After our dental friends left, we were so lonely... Enter the Ellsworth family.
Our families hit it off. Nearly everyone had a friend just their size. The friendship grew quickly and before we knew it we were swapping date nights, enjoying Sunday dinners together and having more fun then we could ever imagine.
The best part was that the adults got along super well. It's so nice to find a couple where both sides really enjoy each others company.
Kristen and I became the best of friends. In the words of Anne Shirley... We are blossom friends... Kindred spirits. She grew to be more like a sister than a friend in no time.
We dreamed of finding jobs together here in Ohio, buying houses next door to each other, getting a cabin together... It was going to be perfect!
And then they got offered an amazing job in Utah, close to family. They couldn't pass it up. And reality sunk in.
We are so thrilled that they found such a great opportunity for their family. And what a blessing that it is in Utah so we know we will see them at least once a year when we come to visit family.
Our kids have already written letters and drawn them pictures to send to their new home. I am already planning on sending my kids to EFY in Utah when they are teens so they can spend time with their best friends.
We have already arranged a few marriages. Hopefully at least one of them will work out.
As you can see, our kids adore each other. It was so hard to say good-bye.
I held it together pretty well all night until it was time for the actual good-bye. It was way too hard. I still have a pain in my chest whenever I think about it.
We have plans to have Kristen come back in September to help me when baby Henry is born. I am already counting down the days.
I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father for putting this family in my life. Our friendship is one that will last a lifetime.
