food troubles and then some.

Petey is the worst eater.  I mean the worst.  He is so picky.  When he was little he would pick it up, touch it, lick it... and then throw it.  Not even kidding.  He has gotten a little better... but not much.  We realized that he was eating mostly processed snacks and loads of milk.  He would run away at dinner time and not touch anything (unless we were having rice or noodles).  So... we buckled down and are attempting to change his eating habits.  It's actually been a blessing for everyone in the family as we are all eating a little better.  I stopped buying most snacks.  He can now choose between fruit, cheese, granola bars, go-gurts and yogurt covered raisins.  His go-to is an "apple green" or an "apple red".  He only lets me cut them on rare occasions and prefers to eat them like a grown-up.  It scares me to death that he is going to choke... but so far, so good.   We also got rid of all sippy cups (well, Daddy did.  They started disappearing one day... I later found out he has been hiding them.  I still don't know where they are.)  I went from buying 6 gallons a week to 3 or 4.  He's doing okay with it. Dinner time... is another story.  But at least he's eating healthier snacks.
I have been able to craft a little bit in my new happy space.  I made this little table runner for my sewing desk.  It's from scraps.  I'm in love with it.
Here is one of the fun lunches I made for Peter in attempt to get him to eat healthier.  He wouldn't touch any of it.  I thought for sure he would eat the apples... nope.  Because they were cut different.  Bread?  Disgusts him.  You should see him when we offer him the sacrament.  It's quite comical.
This is the normal scene at our home in the mornings.  We have been doing so good at reading scriptures as a family this school year!  I hope we keep it up.
This guy has just started joining us.  He has repeated a verse or two with us.  Mostly he just loves to ride around and distract the other kids.
Thursdays are dance days at our house... which means we usually have a few friends to play with while their moms are waiting for their girls to get out of class.  Graham loves his Dallen.  They are the best of friends.  I loved how they were sharing a seat.  For awhile Dallen even had his arm around Graham.
Every once in awhile I decide to be a fun mom and actually take my kids somewhere.  My depression has subsided quite a bit and I feel like leaving the house a little more often.  I still get anxiety taking all of the kids on  outings without daddy... but taking three to the natural history museum is okay.  Unless it is crowded... then I get super anxious.  They have a new dinosaur exhibit.  We were so excited to go and see it.  It was highly disappointing.  I was expecting more dinosaurs and less video games.  Who wants to take their kid to the museum to play video games?  Not I.
On the way out Jayne found a lady bug.  She kept her for two days in a little cup in her room.  She never escaped.  It was a miracle.
Petey thought she was the coolest thing.  I see many bug collections in our summer future.
Petey is three.  That means loads of meltdowns and timeouts.  There are some days I wish I could be a child and throw myself on the floor and have a tantrum.  Wouldn't that be amazing?
