remodel.

We did it.  We remodeled the office and it is now my sewing room!  Hooray!  Here are some awesome before pictures...
Green ducks and the green carpet of death!
I was really nervous to take down the wallpaper... but it wasn't too bad.  We used a mixture of fabric softener and water.  You spray it on, let it sit and the paper comes right off in huge strips!
The bottom half was a little harder to get off.  We had to get a little scraper deal and make holes in the paper and then it came right off in big chunks like the top.  I just love the bright blue paint underneath.  What were they thinking?!
The kids wanted to help paint so bad.  I let them help with the primer.  We kept the carpet down until almost all of the painting was done.  That make clean-up a dream!
 Making progress!
Graham loves to use tools.  He was a big help when it was time to add the outlet covers and the hardware on the cupboards.
I found some vintage desks on Craigslist.  They were perfect for the space!  We just had to paint the "smoker Debby" out of them first.
Ripping out the carpet!  That was the easy part.  Getting out all of the staples and the nail strips of death was another story.
Look at those beautiful hardwood floors underneath that nasty green carpet!
All the painting is done!  It is a light grey on the bottom and a lighter grey on top with white trim.
This chair came with one of the desks.  It was dingy and gross.  I spray painted it and reupholstered it and now it looks fabulous!
Everything is coming together!  I ordered the rug online from Urban Outfitters.  I am so in love with it.
I lined the back of the shelves with fabric and found a bunch of baskets and little jars to house all of my fabric and crafting things.  (and the muppets... I decided that I need more muppets in my life.)
All done!  The bird cage has clips on it where I write down future projects or hang little notes from my kids to keep me happy.  The scalloped bunting makes me happy too.
 Little details....
I got this vintage record from my sister-in-law years ago.  She sent it in the mail "just because" it made her think of me.  I'm so happy I finally have a place to hang it!
One of my favorite groups is Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband.  They sing a song called Dream Big.  It's kind of my theme for the room.
I want to stay in this room all day every day.  I've had to pace myself now that it's done and only go in there for a little bit each day.  It made my heart burst when I came in on Sunday afternoon and saw my girls sewing their hearts out.  Gracie took it upon herself to go ahead and learn on her own.  I am amazed at how fast she picked up on it!  She was a sweetheart and only used the scraps instead of the bigger pieces of fabric.  I adore that girl.  I think her own sewing machine is in her future...

I absolutely love it! Makes me want to actually make over mine more than just having everything in one room.

Love it! I'll have to post some picture of mine when ever I get time to finish it. Still priming.
