Jeremy had Labor Day off... his first day off since he started working. For some reason we thought we could see more of him when he was finished with school. Boy were we wrong. He's been pulling 12 hour days. We really crave our family time now more than ever. We decided to take advantage of the day off and surprised the kids with a trip to the African Wildlife Safari Park about an hour from our house. It was an experience we will never forget! It reminded me of the movie We Bought a Zoo. A little zoo feeling with little shows and yummy food to eat. It was the perfect day.
We started with the drive through. You get to feed all these animals food straight out of your window! Lots of them got up close and personal with us! Jayne was so brave...
Peter thought they were hilarious...We loved this guys crazy hair...
I thought Graham would love it the most... as you can see he did not.
He was perfectly content watching them from a distance. :)
We learned that feeding them carrots was way more fun then feeding them pellets.
Lincoln had the most fun. He wasn't afraid of any of the animals... except for the buffalo.
Graham finally fed the ducks some pellets.
Even then he stayed in the backseat.
Jayne even got to drive the car.
She got a little scared when this honey came to the window.
He almost gave Jeremy a kiss!
This is how these two felt about the buffalo...
Peter doesn't know what's coming....
Gracie wanted out of there, QUICK!
"Is anybody wearing red clothes?! Get away from that huge thing!" -Graham
Well hello there Mr. Longhorn.
The gazelles were gorgeous.
As were the zebras.
We went back for another round just before heading home. We only bought carrots this time which was very smart.
Jayne almost got brave enough to feed the camel.
We let Peter sit up front the second time and he was even brave enough to feed the deer.
We didn't get a picture.... but this guy snuck up on me and had his entire head in the window! It scared me SO bad! Jeremy thought he was going to lick my face. I could feel his breath, turned around and there he was! Jeremy closed the window to get him out. It was hilarious!
Grace finally got brave and came up to feed a few friends.
She only liked the baby deer.
Jayne liked them too.
She got a little silly with the carrots.
We saved a ton of our carrots for these guys!
The stuck their heads right through the roof!
So beautiful!
The workers told us that we had to stick the carrots in the cups to feed them... we weren't sure what the big deal was until we saw that tongue! Holy moly!
We had the best time ever. Can't wait to go back someday!
