We unloaded our truck and were in our new home. It felt so surreal. We camped out amidst boxes and broken down furniture that first night. I literally slept a total of three hours that night. I couldn't stop thinking about where to put furniture, how to hang pictures... It was like I was a kid on Christmas Eve. I tried so hard to fall asleep! The first three night Jayne would wake up and walk around the house wimpering because she "just didn't know where to go." Poor girl.
The kids fell in love with the backyard in minutes. Peter had blisters on his feet from playing so much within the first few days.
We spent four days building furniture together, hanging pictures, and spending time together. It was hard work, but it was bliss.
Cow and Tiger got very dirty from all the outside play time so we had had to wash them. Peter was so concerned that he stayed and watched them for a good portion of the cycle. We have since washed all of the stuffed animals in the house because the kids think its hysterical to watch through the glass.
The girls have their very own cottage in the backyard. The boys will build a treehouse with Grampa and daddy next spring.
I never dreamed we would have such a fantastic backyard. What a blessing.
We had our cousins from Chicago the weekend we moved in. They were SO helpful! It was so fun for the kids to have cousins to play with while we were working.
They came to see Lion King the musical. I stayed home with my girls and the little people. We had fun watching for them to come home through the window.
These two.... So close in age and so different physically.
Many dinners have been spent outside. It's heavenly.
Peter calls angel hair pasta "rocket ships". No idea why.
I woke up one morning to my in laws setting up my kitchen. They are super organized so I didn't mind one but! It was so nice to have their help.
I worked all of the adults so hard those four days. We were unpacked and hanging pictures in no time at all. Jeremy loves to tell the story of one night around 10pm when I said, "you're tired? Why dont you go take a power nap and then come and put these bookshelves together?" Work horse. That's my new nickname.
We have loved having family home evening in our new home. The kids helped me make an fhe board and they love doing their assigned thing each week.
We have even managed to do some crafts together. The kids painted birdhouses for the trees one afternoon.
Jeremy is beyond tired of coming home and building furniture or hanging pictures for me... Hopefully those days are coming to a close. It is rather adorable to see all the kids around him helping.
