We had a great Valentine's yesterday. The kids decided that they all wanted to give pixie sticks to their friends at school this year so we scoured pinterest for a few ideas. Jayne gave her friends magic valentine's wands...
The boys made arrows. These were so cute... but so time consuming. I was proud of Lincoln for putting his together all by himself. We ended up making over 100 of them. Wow.Grace went the super simple route and just added a little flag to hers.
Their teacher gifts were my favorite. One of the teachers liked it so much she posted it on facebook! I'm not her friend on facebook and found out about it from two past teachers. I guess they were a big hit all across the school board. I don't know what I'd do without pinterest. Seriously.
We like to do a little something extra for the kids on Valentine's Day. I think we do a good job of showing them that we love them all year long... but I love the chance to spoil them with love on Valentine's. We got them each a little box of chocolate and a toy. I made them cards that said I love you. They thought they were hilarious.
Peter got a book for church... he loved it but was more interested in the chocolate! He ate all three pieces in about five minutes flat. He takes after his mommy. The girls each got a Lalaloopsy stencil/coloring book. They were so happy.
And the boys got a Hero Factory guy. Can you tell who was most excited for his gift?
Jeremy and I had talked about going low key this year because funds are tight. I planned on heart attacking his car while he was at work. I cut out a lot, a lot of hearts.
Here's the finished product. It started getting windy and rainy when I was finishing up. I was pretty bummed about that but what can you do?
There were so many hearts inside and a big box of chocolates. Jeremy's favorite.
He works on the 6th floor of a tall office building and there are glass windows everywhere. I texted him and told him to look out the window so he saw it before the rain destroyed the outside. His staff noticed it before he looked and they thought it was the coolest thing ever.
The kids came home from school with buckets of candy. Lincoln is at the stage where he looks at all of the cards and is realizing that getting a Valentine from a girl like this is a big deal... and he's not sure how he feels about it.
I had planned on making cinnamon rolls for breakfast... but didn't wake up in time. I decided to make them for an afterschool snack instead... and then forgot to bake them before the kids got home. We had them for breakfast this morning instead. They were tasty. We had a friends fun night with another family while their parents had a date night in. We decorated cookies with the kids and made heart shaped pizzas. It was a pretty low key night. Jeremy and I have a hot date planned for tonight. Here's hoping I'm feeling well enough to enjoy Blue Man Group!
Jeremy was an angel and got me this awesome pillow. I wasn't expecting anything at all so it was a big surprise. (Okay... really I saw an e-mail about it but I didn't know if it was for love day or my birthday next month... shhh, don't tell.) It's giant... but I can't wait to use it!
