gracie's baptism.

Gracie turned 8 this year which means she could choose to be baptized a member of our church.  We were so proud of her when she decided to be baptized!  I have always dreamed of making my daughters baptism dress.  We looked through loads of pictures online and she went crazy over this one...
I headed to the fabric store to find some fabric and lace to recreate that beautiful design.  I was so afraid to work with that much lace.  It was a first for me.  Gracie's favorite color is blue, and she wanted blue ribbon around her waist.  And she wanted it to have lining all through it so that it didn't itch.
We were both pleased with how it turned out!
We headed to the Kirtland Temple for a mini photo shoot for her baptism invitations.  It was FREEZING cold!  She was such a good sport.  You can't tell but she is wearing black yoga pants under her dress to keep a little warm.
We had a lot of fun taking these pictures.  There were about a dozen to choose from.  She's such a pretty girl.
Here is the final invitation.  We sent it to all of our close friends and family.
The day of the baptism was very memorable.  We opted to have it a few hours after church since our ward had a temple trip the Saturday before.  We figured we would get a few more people there.
My mom made a dress that each of the grand-daughters has been baptized in.  She embroiders their names on it after they are baptized.  It was so fun to have Gracie wear it on her special day!  She was so cute right before she was baptized when she was waiting to go down in the font.  She said, "I kind of need to go to the bathroom!"  I told her to try not to.  She made it!
Gracie and two of her best friends before the baptism....
Can you tell they love each other just a little bit?
A little boy from her primary class wanted in on the picture action.
After a beautiful service, we invited all of the friends and family that came to join us for ice cream sundaes.  Gracie loves Menchie's and asked me to recreate it for her baptism.  I think we did a pretty good job.  The table was filled with flowers and dozens of pictures of Gracie from birth-now.  We also had a frame for people to sign so she could remember who came on her special day.
Gracie and another best friend.  I still get choked up when I think about how many people came to the baptism. The Bishop counted over 115 guests from the stand.  It was a little overwhelming how much love we felt by so many friends and family.
Gracie and her cousin, Rachel.  We were so fortunate to have so much of our family there with us.  The entire program was filled with family members that came from out of state.  We are so blessed.
Twinner baptism girls!  These two are so adorable... and so freezing cold!
Gracie with her Grandma and Grandpa Wilde.
Gracie and her Gramma and Grampa Christensen.  She was so happy both of her grandparents came!
Four of my darling children.
The best family shot we could muster.  Notice Tiger made the picture.  It's very fitting since he's practically a member of the family.
Gracie and aunt Bethanie.
Jayne insisted on a picture with Bethanie too.  They kind of love her.
And she insisted on wearing her twirly dress!
Another close friend... she is two years younger than Gracie!
Jayne and her "other sisters".
Jayne and her dancing friends.  (I know this was Gracie's day... but Jayne insisted on some pictures too.)
I can't express how grateful I am for all of the love and support we felt on this day.  I get overwhelmed when I think of the amount of people that came and supported us.  I have so much love in my heart for our sweet Gracie and I am so grateful that so many people were there for her on her baptism day.  It was certainly a day that we will never forget!
