Memorial Day- Kirtland Cemetery.

If we had been in Utah for Memorial Day we would have gone to visit my little sister Lacey's grave.  I want to instill in my children why we celebrate this holiday so we decided to go and visit the Kirtland Cemetery.  We had the best time.
We taught them about how all of the graves with tiny flags on them were people that served in wars so that we could have the freedoms that we enjoy today.
We also showed them a few of the more famous graves in this particular cemetery.  The girls loved hearing more about Thankful Pratt and all of the Smiths that were buried there.
We had fun teaching them cemetery etiquette and trying to locate any ancestors that we might have known.
My favorite...
Peter was so worried about this gravestone that was tipping over.  He tried really hard to make it straight again.
This is how an outing with the whole family usually ends... with Peter being dragged away because he's having too much fun to walk with us.
I'm so grateful we live so close to so much amazing church history.  I love where we live!
